Chemical Products – An indispensible part of many industrial sectors

An industry can be regarded as the production of goods or services within a particular economy. The large source of the revenue generated by a group of company serves as the indicator for its relevant industry. Group of companies related by the same primary business activity can be classified as an industry.

Industry, further, can be categorized on the basis of three-sector theory into sectors such as primary or extractive, secondary or manufacturing and tertiary or services. But industries can also be classified according to the products they manufacture or services they provide such as paper industry, automotive industry, construction industry, chemical industry, food industry, hospitality industry, software industry, entertainment industry, petroleum industry, etc.

Chemical Industry is considered to be one of the world’s fastest growing and major revenue earning industry. Chemical industry incorporates companies that are into manufacturing of industrial chemicals or Chemical Products. Production of chemicals were known to be dated way back in history, but the beginning of the industrial revolution marked the initiation of heavy chemical industry that are involved in the production of large quantities of chemical for various uses.

Chemical Products find applications in a variety of industrial sectors and has been gaining tremendous importance. These can be broadly classified into Basic Chemicals or Commodity Chemicals, Life Sciences, Speciality Chemicals and Consumer Products. Polymers and plastics, included under Basic chemicals, such as polyvinyl chloride, polycarbonate, polypropylene, polyethylene, polystyrene, etc cover about 80% of the worldwide output of the industry. Life sciences include biological substances, vitamins, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, etc whereas speciality chemicals are referred to those chemicals which are manufactured on the basis of their effect or performance.

These chemical products involve various kinds of uses. On one hand, they can be directly used as raw material for the manufacturing of other products and on the other hand, these chemicals can be used in the process which leads to the manufacturing of a product. They can help in the maintenance of machineries as well as can aid in increasing the productivity of a system.

Having corrosion issues in boilers? Not a concern anymore – Know how to resolve

A boiler serves as a device for generating steam, which comprises of two principal parts: the furnace which accounts for the heat generation, usually by burning a fuel, and the boiler proper, a device in which the heat brings about the change of water into steam. The steam or hot fluid is then recirculated out of the boiler to be used in various processes in heating applications. The boiler receives the feed water, which consists of varying proportion of recovered condensed water (return water) and fresh water, which has been purified in varying degrees (make up water).

Feed-water composition depends on the quality of the make-up water and the amount of condensate returned to the boiler. Proper treatment of boiler feed water is a critical part of operating and maintaining a boiler system. As steam is produced, dissolved solids become concentrated and form deposits inside the boiler. These results in poor heat transfer and alleviate the efficiency of the boiler. Dissolved gases such as carbon dioxide and oxygen will react with the metals in the boiler system and brings about corrosion within the boiler.

Herein comes the role of NALCO 7208 that serves as a Boiler Water pH Booster manufactured by Nalco Company. Now, to understand what exactly is the role of this product in corrosion inhibition, we need to first know what corrosion actually is.

Corrosion of boiler is regarded as the deterioration of metal parts of the boiler by chemical or electrochemical reaction with its environment. Corrosion products that are formed in the boiler or transported to the boiler can deposit and impede heat transfer, causing tube metal overheating. In order to provide protection to the boiler from these contaminants, they should be controlled or removed, through external or internal treatment.

One such treatment for preventing the corrosion of boiler involves the pH booster chemical treatment. Proper maintenance of pH value in the boiler feed water helps in protecting the boiler internals from corrosion. When the pH value is not within range, then a boiler water pH booster chemical can be administered to it, to achieve the desired pH level. Nalco Company formulated pH booster chemical product Nalco 7208 effectively precludes corrosion.

Apart from other business portals, this product can now be searched for in the ChemEqual directory, the largest online directory for chemicals supplier all over the world wherein buyers can have a direct access to all the products and their equivalent brands along with having the convenience of sending direct enquiry to suppliers.
