DOWTHERM SR-1 supplier Dow Chemical has manufactured the product with 100% virgin ethylene glycol

DOWTHERM SR-1 serves as an inhibited ethylene glycol based heat transfer fluid manufactured by The Dow Chemical Company. It is a formulation of 95.5 percent by weight ethylene glycol and a specially designed package of industrial corrosion inhibitors. The fluid is dyed fluorescent pink for leak detection purposes. Solutions in water provide freeze protection to below -50°C (-60°F) and burst protection to below -73°C (-100°F).

DOWTHERMSR-1 finds its use in closed-loop, water-based HVAC, process heating and cooling, food industry applications within temperature range. It is essentially comprised of Ethylene Glycol at about 95.5% and Performance Additives at about 4.5%. It appears as Fluorescent pink in colour. It exhibits a pH (50% glycol) of about 9.0–10.5 and is of specific gravity about 1.1250–1.1350.

DOWTHERM SR-1 supplier Dow Chemical has manufactured the product with 100% virgin ethylene glycol. The fluid has never been blended with other glycol streams (and do not contain recycled glycol) so as to ensure batch-to-batch consistency. Each product has been specially formulated with heavy-duty industrial inhibitor packages that help in preventing corrosion. The inhibitors are long lasting, easily maintained and replenishable, which means intervals between fluid change outs are extended and fluid expense is minimized.

DOWTHERM SR-1 fluid has an operating temperature range of -60°F to 250°F; with fluid freeze protection to below -60°F, and system burst protection to below -100°F. The fluid comprises of corrosion inhibitors that have been specially formulated for HVAC systems to keep pipes free of corrosion without fouling. DOWTHERM SR-1 fluid can be specified for use in new HVAC systems or as a replacement fluid for use in existing systems. DOWTHERM SR-1 fluid is also suitable for ice storage systems — used either in the closed circulation loop from the chiller to the storage medium; or, in solution with water, in the medium itself.

PermaTreat PC- 191T – a highly efficient scale inhibitor

PermaTreat PC- 191T serves as a Membrane Antiscalant manufactured by Nalco Company that successfully amalgamates the product reliability of PermaTreat PC-191 with the built-in technology for advanced control and monitoring. PermaTreat PC-191T - a highly efficient scale inhibitor, whose active components were developed for the purpose of carrying out treatment of reverse osmosis (RO) membrane systems. PermaTreat PC-191T, for over 20 years, has shown commendable performance against the following scalants:  calcium sulfate, calcium carbonate, calcium fluoride, barium sulfate, strontium sulfate, silica and iron.

Reverse Osmosis is regarded as a process that involves deionization and demineralization of water by passing it under pressure through a semi-permeable membrane. Filtration of effluent water by the use of the reverse osmosis membrane accompanies some unavoidable issues that tend to disrupt the productivity of the membrane which includes some major concerns such as degradation, fouling, and scaling of membranes. Scaling and iron fouling of the RO membranes will affect the performance of the system and results in premature membrane replacement. Precipitation of scale and deposits build up on the RO membrane, which leads to poor permeate quality, low permeate production, increased water consumption, unscheduled downtime and increased energy costs.

Membrane Antiscalants pose as specialized formulation that aids in strengthening the solubility of sparingly soluble salts which can be referred to as common scalants. These membrane antiscalants form a crucial factor in the effective and organized operation of the reverse osmosis system.

PermaTreat PC- 191T appears to be a yellow colored liquid having an ammoniacal odor. It has a specific gravity of 1.36 and exhibits pH of 10.5. PermaTreat PC- 191T finds its use in areas of high salt content water.

Benefits:
• It helps in reducing membrane fouling and the frequency of washing
• Nalco uses the TRASAR technology for its formulation
• Reduces the acid consumption
• It is applicable to all types of films and is more efficient than the phosphate

• It improves the water quality which account for different benefits

Nalco 7330 to be used as a broad-spectrum biocide

NALCO 7330 serves as Water Substituted Isothiazolinone based biocide manufactured by Nalco Company. It manifests as a broad spectrum, non oxidizing biocide that has been formulated specially to be used in recirculating cooling towers, closed loop cooling systems, air washer and brewery pasteurizers.

A cooling tower is regarded as a heat rejection device that involves the extraction of waste heat to the atmosphere through the cooling of a water stream to a lower temperature. The type of heat rejection in a cooling tower is termed evaporative because it allows a little portion of the water being cooled to evaporate into moving air stream to impart significant cooling to the rest of that water stream. A cooling tower may be of two types - open circuit or closed circuit cooling tower. Common applications for cooling tower include manufacturing and electric power generation and providing cooled water for air-conditioning.

Though the cooling tower exhibits many advantages, but this application is also not free from problems like many such other applications. Cooling towers, on the basis of its properties, become efficient air cleaners. This process allows the airborne contaminants and particles to get aggregated into the cooling water. This, along with the contaminants in the feed water, creates an environment for microorganism growth, solid deposits and scaling. Microorganisms show the tendency to bloom in the re-circulated water and on wet surfaces. Bacteria slime and algae tend to foul heat– exchanger surfaces and in most of the cases attack and bring about the destruction of system components.

In order to prevent the biological growth, industry people generally employ chemicals specially biocides to stop bio-growth. Nalco Company has specially formulated Nalco 7330 to be used as a broad-spectrum biocide for the prevention of microbiological growth in the cooling towers. Nalco 7330 is essentially composed of 5-Chloro-2-Methyl-4-1sothiazolin-3- of Cas No. 26172-55-4 at about 1.1 % and 2-Methyl-4-1sothiazolin-3-o of Cas No. 2682-20-4 at about 0.3%. It appears as a Light green liquid having a mild odor by nature and of specific gravity 1.08. The pH of the product is around 3-4 and is a completely water soluble chemical.
